The Mazda 6 Will Be Discontinued This Year

Mazda is stopping production of the Mazda 6 in Japan, which raises the question of how long it will be available on the market. It turns out that this year, the curtain will fall globally.
Japanese production of the Mazda 6 will come to an end this year, and although that is not the only place where the Mazda 6 is built, it appears that the plug will also be pulled in globally this year. It is not yet clear when exactly it will be over. For the time being, the Mazda 6 can still be ordered new.
The end of the Mazda 6 doesn’t come as a big surprise. Mazda freely admits that demand for the Mazda 6 has decreased and that it is shifting its focus to other segments. Mazda’s CX-30, CX-5, and CX-60 are specifically mentioned. They do indeed sell considerably better. 2,638 of the CX-5 were sold last year, 1,504 of the still relatively fresh CX-60, and 1,344 of the CX-30. The Mazda 6 was limited to 209 units in 2023.
According to reports, Mazda has no plans to replace it with a new model in the future, but rumors suggest that an RWD-based model is in the works and may share the CX-60 platform.
