Our grandparents used to say there was a time when one Naira was equal to one dollar. Some even said Naira was stronger than dollar at a time. During the good old days, the Nigerian economy was doing great. Things were cheap and the exchange rate clearly had no significant effect on our denomination.
Would you believe a Beetle (Tortoise) was sold for N3,984 in the year 1982. Compared to now that N5,000 cannot even buy you a car battery.
