Toyota RAV SUV was the world’s best-selling car model in 2022, with sales of 1.016 million, according to JATO.

Five (5) Toyota car models were part of the ten (10) world’s best-selling car models in 2022.

The list included four sedans while the remaining six included four Crossover SUVs and two pickup trucks.

Tesla Model Y claimed third spot/ title of world’s best-selling electric car while Honda CR-V was the fourth best-seller. 





Two all-electric Tesla models, Model Y and Model 3 made it to the world top 10 best-selling vehicles in 2022. 

Five Toyota car models were part of the ten (10) world’s best-selling car models in 2022 with the Japanese automaker’s RAV4 and Corolla emerging the first and second place last year, according to Automotive market analysis firm, JATO Dynamics.

Four of the top 10 bestsellers in the world last year were sedans while the remaining six included four Crossover SUVs and two pickup trucks, according to JATO Dynamics data.





With 1.016 million units sold globally, RAV4 emerged not only the best-selling passenger car on the planet but also the world’s best-selling SUV in 2022. This was followed closely by Toyota Corolla, which sold 992,000 units in 2022.⁠

Tesla’s model Y claimed third spot and the title of world’s best-selling electric car with 747,000 examples sold, while Honda CR-V was the fourth best-seller overall – with total reported sales of 733,000.

Toyota Camry was the fifth best-seller with 673,000 units sold while Toyota Hilux and Nissan Sentra were sixth and seventh with 632,000 and 566,000 units sold worldwide in 2022 respectively.

Toyota Corolla Cross was the 8th bestselling model in 2022, with 530,000 units reportedly delivered while Ford’s line-up of F-Series pickups claimed ninth spot with 525,000 examples reported as sold. Tesla Model 3 claimed the tenth position with total reported sales of 482,000.
