“Trains Checked, Payments Made” : Governor Sanwo-Olu completes purchase of trains for Red, Blue Line operations.

Sanwo-Olu had last week announced the procurement of additional for the Lagos Blue Line and Red Line Rail operations.

The deal was finalized on Monday with Chinese State-owned CRRC Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co after inspection.





Lagos State Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has finalized the purchase of additional trains for the Lagos Blue Line and Red Line operations from Chinese state-owned rolling stock manufacturer, CRRC Dalian.

Sanwo-Olu, who is currently in China with his entourage including LAMATA boss, made this known on Monday in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

According to the Governor, the train specifications has been finalized and payments made to Dalian. He also said that the delivery dates from Dalian to Lagos has also been confirmed.





“Trains checked, production specifications finalized, payments made, and delivery dates from Dalian, China, to Lagos, Nigeria confirmed.

“Joint maintenance agreements, as well as knowledge and skills transfer, to be finalised with the team, boasting over 100 years of manufacturing experience, making them one of the foremost and well-known train manufacturers in the world.

“We are genuinely excited about this development, as Lagos anticipates and deserves excellence, connectivity, and modern technology in infrastructural development.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had last week announced the procurement of additional rolling stocks (trains) for the Lagos Blue Line and Red Line Rail operations.

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), on Monday began the first of many test runs along the 37-km Red Line Rail ahead of start of operation in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024.
