Two Maserati Models, And The Fiat 500 EV Production Stops Due To Low Demands

Demand for the new FIAT 500 EV is lacking. The Stellantis brand has halted production of this model twice, first in September and again earlier this month. The production lines for the FIAT 500 in Mirafiori will remain closed until at least January 20, as stated in a recent report.
Alongside the FIAT 500, two “small-volume Maserati sports car models” that are also manufactured at the same site will have their production halted until February 3, the report goes on to claim. While the report doesn’t name names, there are only two Maserati EVs currently in production, namely the GranTurismo Folgore and the Grecale Folgore, so clearly those are the ones in question.
Automotive output in Italy, both passenger cars and vans, is expected to fall below 500,000 vehicles this year, down from 751,000 in 2023. It would be the lowest production level since 1958. FIAT and Maserati owner Stellantis has proposed a plan to the Italian government to revitalize its output in Italy, but the effects of this would only be felt in 2026 and beyond, so next year might be quite bad too.
Of course, Stellantis could just make cars people want to buy, with features people deem useful, at prices people deem acceptable, and that would instantly fix the output issue, but apparently, that’s too hard.
