Antonio Filosa (Stellantis CEO) Denies Rumors of Maserati Sale
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has denied rumors of a Maserati sale, confirming it remains part of the company. He also dismissed plans to split European and American brands, stating all 14 nameplates are essential to the group’s strategy.
In an interview with Bloomberg Television at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa definitively refuted rumors regarding a potential sale of Maserati, stating, “Not at all.” While this is not the first time the company has addressed speculation surrounding the Italian marque’s ownership, these latest comments reaffirm Stellantis’s commitment to retaining the brand within its portfolio.
Such rumors have persisted as Maserati has navigated recent challenges, including declining sales and uncertainty regarding its long-term strategic direction. Although Stellantis has explored various avenues to enhance the brand’s market performance—including discussions with potential partners—these efforts are intended to bolster Maserati’s prospects rather than facilitate a divestment.
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed Maserati is not for sale and rejected plans to split European and American divisions. To improve performance, Stellantis will increase engineering collaboration between Maserati and Alfa Romeo while keeping all 14 brands in its global strategy.
Stellantis uses shared platforms and powertrains across its 14 distinct brands. While each plays a unique role, the group is prioritizing investment in Jeep, Ram, Peugeot, Fiat, and its Pro One commercial unit.
The primary challenge for Stellantis lies in optimizing shared development costs while ensuring that each brand maintains its unique identity, rather than becoming a mere derivative of shared platforms. Achieving this balance is essential, particularly as Chinese automakers intensify competition within European and international markets.
Furthermore, Stellantis is actively pursuing strategic partnerships to enhance manufacturing capacity utilization. Collaborations with Chinese manufacturers such as Leapmotor and Dongfeng are intended to sustain operations at European production facilities while facilitating broader access to electrification technology.
