Uganda to South Africa : Ugandan-made electric coach begins 30-day expedition across 6 African nations.

30-day expedition will see the e-bus drive across Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini, and South Africa.

Made by Kiira Motors, the Kayoola E-Coach 13M premium inter-city electric bus is equipped with a 422-kWh battery-pack.

Battery-pack provides an impressive driving range of 500 kilometers (approximately 311 miles) on a single charge.

Ugandan Government-owned Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) has announced that its newly launched Kayoola Electric Coach 13M (model 2025) has now travelled 3,000-km and now in Zambia since the start of the Trans-Africa Electric Expedition on Thursday November 20th 2025.

Now in its 10th day, the 30-day, 13,000 kilometres-long Trans-Africa Electric Expedition from Uganda to South Africa and back will see the all-electric bus drive across six African nations : Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini, and South Africa.

“As we flag off this historic expedition, we are sending a message to the world : Uganda believes in its people, its technology, and Africa’s capacity to shape a sustainable future,” Minister of Works and Transport Gen. Katumba Wamala said while flagging off the expedition.

Dubbed as “Premium African Solution”, the Kayoola E-Coach 13M premium inter-city electric bus is equipped with a 422-kWh battery, which provides an impressive driving range of 500 kilometers (approximately 311 miles) on a single charge.

Inside, the e-bus seats up to 64 passengers (3+2 layout). Each of seats are fitted with 3-point seatbelts and a USB charging port (5V/2100MA). In addition, there are two 19-inch LCD monitors and a 4G/LTE Wi-Fi router for onboard entertainment.
