A 1997 McLaren F1 owned by Oracle CEO could fetch $23m at auction with bidding set to run from August 13–16, 2025. 

Chassis #062, the 53rd of 106 road F1s or racing F1 GTRs ever built, is offered exclusively through RM Sotheby’s sealed. 

Known for its groundbreaking design and performance, F1 remains the fastest naturally-aspirated production automobile ever built.





Powered by a 6.1-liter BMW-sourced V12 engine, the F1 achieved a top speed of 240.1 mph (386.4 km/h) in 1998, a record that still stands today.

An ultra-rare McLaren F1 sports car delivered new in 1997 to Oracle software CEO Larry Ellison is expected to fetch in excess of $23 million ($23,000,000 USD) during the upcoming prestigious Monterey Car Week in August 2025.

Finished in Magnesium Silver over black leather, chassis #062 is offered exclusively through RM Sotheby’s sealed, with bidding set to run from August 13–16, 2025, in Monterey, which is part of its presence at the Monterey Car Week.

At the time of Ellison’s decade-long ownership, chassis #062 wore a California vanity license plate “ORACLE8”, logging less than 2,600 miles, before changing owner in 2005 and then again to its current, third owner, in 2010 – logging just under 6,500 miles from new.

Chassis #062 was the 53rd of 106 road F1s or racing F1 GTRs to be built by McLaren at its production centre in Working, England, and one of just seven (7) McLaren F1s exported to the US when new via Ameritech.

This particular car retains its original wheels and comes with several accessories including manuals, luggage, tool roll, car cover, torque wrench, service modem and even the original McLaren Auto Glym detailing kit.
