Upcoming Honda Prelude Could Get An Optional Manual Gearbox Mated With A Hybrid System
Honda announced the return of the legendary name and model – Prelude, and now an interesting piece of information has appeared.
It is known that the sports coupe will have a hybrid system based on a 2.0-litre gasoline engine. It usually comes with a CVT transmission, but that’s not all. According to the Japanese edition of Best Car, sources from the company announced that in addition to the conventional (and in the context of sporty driving) CVT, the Prelude could offer a manual gearbox paired with Honda’s hybrid system. If this is true, this would be the first Honda since the already-forgotten CR-Z to have a manual transmission in the hybrid system.
The electrified powertrain is expected to combine a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, similar to what’s found in the Civic. This combination should combine performance and economical driving in the Prelude.
Production of the new Honda Prelude should begin in the second half of 2025. Official confirmations of arrival on the markets of Japan and Europe have arrived.
