Vintage Car Collector And Actor, Kunle Afolayan, Shows Off His 1990s Jaguar XJS

“I’m Stuck In The Ancient” : Actor Kunle Afolayan shows off his latest vintage car, a 1990 Jaguar XJS grand tourer.

Produced between 1975 and 1996, the Jaguar XJS is a luxury grand tourer offered as a coupe and a convertible.

The film actor and award-winning director is well-known for his passion for vintage and classic cars.

He also owns a 1965-1972 Mercedes-Benz SE, a 1979 Jaguar XJ Series III and a 1965 Ford Thunderbird.

Nigerian film actor and award-winning director, Kunle Afolayan, has shared photos of his vintage Jaguar XJS on his official Instagram account, noting that “I’m stuck in the ancient but still blended with the new world 🍻👊🏽👌🏾”.

Produced by British luxury marque between 1975 and 1996, the Jaguar XJS is a luxury grand tourer offered as a coupe and a convertible. Per the visual characteristics – especially the quad-headlight setup, Kunle’s Jaguar XJS is likely a 1989, 1990 or 1991 model.

The 51 year old economist and banker-turned filmmaker is the CEO of Golden Effects Pictures — a Nigerian film and production company. He is known for directing the Aníkúlápó franchise, The Figurine, Phone Swap and October 1.

Outside the Nollywood world, Kunle is also one of Nigeria’s biggest collectors of vintage cars, boasting four other iconic cars in his garage. He claimed to be a vintage car collector in two of his pasts Instagram post.

“This is Africa! I AM A COLLECTOR,” he wrote in one of these posts while the other was captioned with : “I am an old soul, vintage mind, classic blood in contemporary body”.

Kunle Afolayan’s collection of vintage cars also includes a 1929 Mercedes-Benz Gazelle, a  1965-1972 Mercedes Benz SE (W108/W109), a 1979 Jaguar XJ Series III, and a 1965 V8 engine Ford Thunderbird.
