Watch As Convoy Of Over 120 Vehicles Escort President Tinubu To His Resident In Lagos
Watch as over 120-vehicle convoy of VIPs, party members escort President Tinubu to his resident in Lagos.
Vehicles seen in the footage includes dozens of exotic SUVs such as Range Rover and Toyota Land Cruiser.
Other vehicles seen in the convoy includes pickup trucks, ambulances, sedans, Mini buses as well as BRT buses.
Mixed reactions have trailed a video showing a show-stopping convoy that welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who arrived Lagos, Nigeria on June 27th after a working visit to France and a private visit to London.
Vehicles seen in the heavily-guided presidential convoy consists dozens of exotic SUVs including Range Rovers, Mercedes G-Class’ and Toyota Land Cruisers, military and FRSC pickup trucks, ambulances, Police cars, Mini buses as well as Lagos BRT buses.
Majority of the vehicles seen in the footage that was captured by a admirer belonged to thousands of party supporters and political dignitaries, who were on the ground to give him a state welcome.
VIPs that received President Tinubu at the airport includes Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, COS to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Service Chiefs, top government officials and politicians.
While many Nigerians frowned at such a show of opulence, others complain about the standard of living in Nigeria, which has erode more due to the removal of fuel subsidy.
Reacting to the video, human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, wrote :
“Why does the president of the poverty capital of the world need to ride in a 120-car convoy and the same people remove subsidy, asking the poor to make sacrifices?”
Another tweep, @OpeBee, lamented :
“I feel very constrained to speak out on issues like this. Yesterday it was the speaker with 34 aides; today it’s the opulent display of convoys. You can’t ask the masses for austerity and live ostentatiously. I personally would not support any policy that further inflicts pain,”.
