2021 BMW M5 And M5 Competition Is Here And Its Dangerous (Photos)
With the 2021 BMW 5-Series already released, it is only normal for the more powerful M5 and M5 competition to be unleashed. This is the facelifted M5 and it comes improved with the latest tech. It is as brutal as anyone remembers and as usual, it’s still faster than its rivals. Let’s see what improvements it has to offer.
First the exterior, we will no talk about the who exterior because that’s already discussed in the article about the 5-Series. The visible difference will be pointed out e.g larger air intakes which are located on either side of the front bumper. A restyled rear bumper and diffuser and new L-shaped taillights highlight the rear design changes. The M5 Competition adds a black finish to the kidney grille surround. Also finished in black are front fender side-gill mesh inserts, the exterior mirror caps, the rear trunk spoiler, name badges and rear bumper inserts. The exhaust (quad exhaust) are also finished in black chrome.
On to the interior, we can see its no different as it features all the upgrades of the standard 5-Series. All the tech and safety features are the same with just a few adjustments to the fittings. The interior looks sporty. The front seats are sporty as usual and come in Full Merino Leather or Individual Full Merino Leather. The interior is trimmed in Aluminum Carbon Structure with Aluminium Dark Structure trim. Fineline Ridge Wood trim options are also available at no extra cost.
Under the hood, the 2021 BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 600 hp and 553 -lb-ft of torque in the standard M5 and 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque in the M5 Competition, so there are no power gains over the pre-facelift model. The M5 does 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds and 3.1 seconds in the M5 Competition. Both models will top out at an electronically limited 155 mph or 190 mph with the optional M Drivers Package. Power is sent to a rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel-drive system through an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
