The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has set a new lap record time of 6:43.616 to become the fastest production car at the legendary Nurburgring race track in Germany.
The new time record set by the AMG GT Black Series is 1.3 second quicker than the previous record of 6:44.97s set by the former record holder Lamborghini Aventador SVJ in 2018.

Behind the wheels was factory GT3 racing driver, Maro Engel, who drove the 2021 AMG GT Black Series around the 12.9-mile North Loop.

Engel said :
“That was a really impressive ride,”
“With speeds of up to almost 168 mph in the Kesselchen section of the track and well over 186 mph on the long Dottinger Hohe straight, the AMG GT Black Series is significantly faster than my GT3 race car.”
“To finally drive around the Nordschleife in 6:48.047 minutes (for the 12.944 mi total track) with a production road car in these track conditions is really awesome.”

Powering the speedster is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-plane crank V8 engine, producing a staggering 720 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
Modifications done to the $389,000 AMG GT Black Series includes a carbon-fiber front splitter; rear spoiler; AMG coilover suspension with adaptive damping; anti-roll bars, and nine-stage traction control.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ’s record stood for two years. Let’s wait and see how long it will take another supercar to break Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series’ production car record at the Nurburgring Nordschleife track.
