Jaguar GT Electric Car Postponed Till Next Year

Jaguar’s upcoming electric grand tourer, revealed by the Type 00 Concept, will not be launched at the end of this year as previously stated.
Jaguar CEO Rodon Glover announced in an ABC News interview that the launch of their ultra-luxury electric model has been delayed until 2026, raising concerns for the company.
A recent major cyberattack is likely to have impacted Jaguar Land Rover, which faced significant disruptions in early September and has just resumed production. The GT model is still being tested, with a prototype spotted at the Nürburgring last week, suggesting it may not be ready for its planned debut. Glover mentioned that orders will begin shortly after the debut, with deliveries expected to follow soon after.
The new car is projected to cost around $130,000, nearly three times the price of the 2024 XF. Buyers will receive “the most powerful Jaguar ever,” built on Jaguar’s electric architecture with a range of up to 430 miles. It will also offer 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes with a fast charger.
While Glover wasn’t ready to reveal details, he suggested the car would “drive really well.” He also hinted that it would buck trends, saying, “There aren’t many electric vehicles that are really fun to drive.”
The rest of the interview focused largely on Jaguar’s new look and controversial rebranding, which they’ve been defending for nearly a year. Glover said, “We need to create a car that has drama, that has scale, that has proportions… that will create a real visceral reaction when people look at it.”
The concept certainly did that, and Glover noted that seeing the car in person is much different from watching it on your phone. As he explained, when you see it live, people can “understand the proportions, the drama, and the scale of the vehicle.”
Glover went on to say that the United States will likely become their biggest market and that the “vast majority” of buyers are “positive” about the design. However, he noted that this comes after he had “time to explain and really go through why the Type 00 looks the way it does.”
