474,117 Passengers Traveled Via Nigerian Rail In Q2 2023, Generates N1.10 Billion – NBS
474,117 passengers traveled via Nigerian rail in Q2 2023, a growth of 12.25% compared to the 422,393 in Q1 2022.
In Q2 2023, volume of goods/cargos transported stood at 56,029 tons, compared to 31,197 tons recorded in Q2 2022.
In terms of revenue, N1.10b was received from passengers, while N188.03m was collected from goods/cargos conveyed.
A total of 474,117 passengers travelled via rail system in the Second Quarter (Q2) of 2023, according to the latest rail transportation data obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) .
This represents a growth rate of 12.25% compared to the 422,393 passengers that traveled through rail during the corresponding quarter of 2021.
During the same period, NBS data shows that the volume of goods/cargos transported through rail stood at 56,029 tons, compared to 31,197 tons recorded in Q2 2022.
In terms of revenue generation, N1.10 billion was received from passengers, an increase of 83.88% compared to the N598.74 million recorded in the same quarter of the previous year.
Similarly, N188.03 million was collected from goods/cargos conveyed through rail in Q2 2023, up by 105.04% from N91.70 million received in Q2 2022.
In addition, other receipts amounted to N18.74 million, indicating a decline of 62.31% in Q2 2023 from the N49.73 million collected in Q2 2022.
