Social Distancing: See The New Sitting Arrangement In Lagos Ferries (PHOTOS)
In full compliance with the Physical Distancing directive of the Lagos State Governor, Mr Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State Ferry Services Corporation (LSFSC) has modified the seating arrangement in boats on its fleet.
The sitting arrangements have been adjusted to accommodate only 60 per cent passenger capacities per trip.
Some of the boats in the fleet of LAGFERRY that have already been adjusted to conform with this sitting arrangement include; MV AYANGBUREN an MV LATEEF JAKANDE. These boats transport commuters along the Ijede-Badore route.
Lagos State Government has formally kicked off commercial waterways transportation, with the launch of eight newly acquired speed boats by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu unveiled the speed boats, which will be operated by the Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY), at a ceremony held at Badore Ferry Terminal in Eti-Osa Local Government Area on Tuesday.
The event marked the commencement of commercial operations in waterways transportation by LAGFERRY. The Governor also launched a mobile application designed to facilitate easy access to water transportation services.
About Lagos State Ferry Services Corporation (LSFSC)
The Lagos State Ferry Services Corporation (LSFSC) or “LAGFERRY”, is the major ferry services provider in Lagos State. Although Lagos ferry services commenced operations in 1925, passenger ferries gradually intensified until the 1970s. This led to the establishment of Lagferry in 1983.
Lagferry works in conjunction with Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
Besides Lagferry, other private ferry operators also use modern ferry boats. They use them to provide commercial transport services between Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Apapa and Victoria Island.
