ICPC Arrests 25 FRSC, VIO Officials, Others For Driver License Fraud

Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission ‘ICPC’ arrests 25 FRSC, VIO Officials, others for ‘Driver License Fraud’.
ICPC said similar operations will be carried out in other centres.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, says it has arrested 25 officials of Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO); Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC); Motor Vehicle Licensing Authority; and other persons in connection with driver license and vehicle particulars fraud in Lagos State.
This was made known by the ICPC spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, on Thursday. She said the arrest was made in collaboration with the Department of State Services and Federal Road Safety Commission.
Azuka said that the operation was conducted in Ikeja; Somolu; Eti-Osa; Anthony Licensing Centres; Ojo; Oshodi; University of Lagos; Surulere; Agege and Coker centres in Lagos State.

ICPC arrests 25 FRSC and VIO officials over driver license fraud.
She said :
“The commission received information that the officials connive with louts to extort extra fees from applicants before their driver licenses and vehicles particulars are processed.
“Various sums of money and several incriminating documents and equipment were retrieved from the suspects during the operation.”
ICPC also made it known that this exercise is a continuous one and similar operations will be carried out in other centres.
“The officials have been granted administrative bail by the Commission and would be arraigned in court when investigations have been concluded.
“This exercise is a continuous one and similar operations will be carried out in other centres in order to rid motor licensing administration of fraud being perpetrated on the public.”
