6km Ijede Road: Ace Comedian Baba Suwe, 454 Other Property Owners Get ₦2.2b Compensation

About 455 affected families, worship centres and businesses were listed for compensation to the tune of N2.206 billion.
Heavy traffic around the Ikorodu-Ijede area of Lagos State are now things of the past, as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioned the first phase of the newly constructed Ijede Road on Wednesday.
Besides the formal inauguration of the dualised 6.5km Ijede Road, the Governor also personally handed over compensation cheques worth N500 million to 16 claimants whose building were affected by the new road.
Among the 16 claimants who got compensation cheque at the event include popular veteran Yoruba actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe. The Ace Comedian got Three million One hundred thousand naira (N3, 100,00), according to the cheque on display.
In all, about 455 affected families, worship centres and businesses were listed for compensation to the tune of N2.206 billion in all places where the State Government is executing infrastructure projects within Ikorodu.
With the completion of the first phase of the newly constructed Ijede Road, the government states that construction work will start on the second phase of the project, measuring 5.9Km from Ewu Elepe to Gberigbe.
The Ijede Road, which was a single carriageway before its reconstruction, cuts across four Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
