Germany To Lift Travel Ban On Low-Infection Regions From July 1

Germany to lift travel ban on low-infection regions, starting from July 1. 

It will lift a general travel warning for risk regions that have a 7-day coronavirus incidence of below 200.

Germany placed travel ban on countries that are immensely plagued by the second wave of the global pandemic. 

Germany has announced today that the country will lift its pandemic travel ban for most low-infection countries from July 1. This would bring back more normalcy as citizens are increasingly vaccinated against Covid-19.

Recall that Germany is part of the European countries that placed travel ban on countries that are immensely plagued by the second wave of the global pandemic

However, it will now lift a general travel warning for risk regions that have a seven-day coronavirus incidence of below 200.

“In many places, the number of infections is falling, and more and more citizens are vaccinated. After long months of lockdown, we can look forward to more normalcy, this also applies to travel,” Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said in a statement.

Earlier on Friday, Germany’s Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases removed several countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Austria and some regions in Greece from its coronavirus travel risk list.
