LAWMA Warns Against Reckless Driving After A Sweeper Was Killed By Motorist

Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) warns against reckless driving after a sweeper was killed by motorist.
The Authority said drivers should be conscious of the presence of sweepers and give them the right of way.
LAWMA threatens to prosecute any driver who willfully or otherwise, knocks down or cause bodily harm to its sweepers.
A road sweeper with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) reportedly lost his life in the early hours of today after being knocked down by a speeding vehicle.
The incident occurred on the early Thursday morning, at exactly 7.45 a.m. According to reports, the motorist in question has turned himself in to a nearby Police station.
A statement released by LAWMA reports that another worker, who sustained serious injuries during the incident, was rushed to the hospital.
While commiserating with the family and loved ones of the deceased sweeper, the authority appealed to motorists to exercise maximum care while driving on the roads. It added that drivers should be conscious of the presence of sweepers and give them the right of way.
LAWMA has also threatened to prosecute any driver who “willfully or otherwise, knocks down or cause bodily harm to any of our sweepers, while carrying out their legitimate duties”.
“The lives of our sweepers, who are our heroes, are most valuable to us and we will do everything humanly possible to protect and safe guard them at all times”.
