In advanced countries, the owner of any animal found wandering on a road is guilty of an offence.
A major road accident was averted yesterday night after a run away cow was spotted wandering along a section of the ever busy 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
A footage of the incident shared online showed the unexpected road user racing along the direction of the traffic, forcing visibly shocked motorists to drive carefully to avoid ramming into it.

In advanced countries, the owner or keeper of any animal found wandering on a road, or lying at the side of the road, is guilty of an offence; unlike in Nigeria, where many now believed the life of cows are more important than humans life.
Luckily, no accident was reported on the ever busy highway, judging by the available footage. We hope that the Nigerian government can pass a law that will punish owners of wandering animals found on highways or lying at the side of the road.
