Electric mobility continues to expand across the Nordic countries. Norway remains the clear leader with the highest share of electric cars, while Denmark is rapidly catching up in terms of growth rate.

A semi-annual report from the Norwegian Road Traffic Information Council (OFV) shows that the process of electrifying passenger car fleets is progressing, reports Electrive.com.

(OFV) has published data on the number of electric cars in the Nordic countries at the end of the first half of 2026.

As expected, Norway is still far ahead, with a share of electric cars of 34.31 percent in the total passenger vehicle fleet.

Denmark follows with 22.37 percent, while Sweden and Finland continue to record single-digit shares – 9.34 percent and 6.98 percent, respectively. Compared to the same period last year, the share of electric cars in the fleet increased by 16.4 percent in Norway, 47.9 percent in Denmark, 21.0 percent in Sweden, and 36.9 percent in Finland.
