COVID-19 : Japan Donates 3 Ambulances To NCDC

Japan donates 3 ambulances to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The donation is part of a project worth N1.3b meant to support Nigeria’s efforts to fight COVID-19.
The handing over ceremony took place at the UN house. The donation of the ambulances is part of a project which is worth a total of 3,394,286 USD (equivalent to N1.3 billion) meant to support Nigeria’s efforts to fight COVID-19.
In collaboration with UNDP, through this project, in addition to the procurement of ambulances, Japan also procured medical supplies and equipment such as personal protective equipment and autoclaves, to support the people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It shows the Government of Japan’s commitment to saving lives in Nigeria.At the event, Mr. MATSUNAGA Kazuyoshi, the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, stated that :
“The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us, in our interdependent world, that no one is safe until everyone is safe. Your matter is my matter. Therefore, Japan is giving top priority to expanding and deepening its support in the fight against COVID-19. It is the same in Nigeria.” and :

“We will continue to cooperate with Japanese companies, other donor countries, and our precious partners, such as UNDP, towards strengthening Nigeria’s health care system.”
The event was attended by Dr Chikwe IHEKWEAZU, Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, and Mr Mohammed YAHAYA, UNDP Resident Representative.
Japan has remained at the forefront of supporting vulnerable people in Nigeria with our partners such as our longtime partner UNDP. Also, Japan continues to provide the necessary support to Nigeria in its so-called “All-Japan” way in which the Government of Japan and Japanese companies work together to support Nigeria’s fight against COVID-19.
