Mercedes G-Class Set New Sales Record In 2021 With 41,174 Iconic SUVs Delivered
Mercedes-Benz G-Class, popularly known as the G-Wagon, set new sales record last year with 41,174 delivered.
The new record sales set in 2021 is the best ever since the original W460 model was launched back in 1979.
Last year, Mercedes revealed an electric concept version of the G-Class SUV, the Concept EQG, at the 2021 IAA Mobility.
The G-Class has always been a “must have” for the world’s wealthiest footballer stars as well as celebrities.
This is due to the luxury and offroading capabilities of the SUV, popularly known as the G-Wagon.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV managed to set a new record sales in 2021 with 41,174 vehicles delivered from January to December, despite the semiconductor shortage that wreaked havoc in the automotive industry last year.
The new record sales set in 2021 is the best ever since the original W460 model was launched back in 1979. And the all-terrain, boxy vehicle is showing no signs of slowing down despite the initial plan to discontinue the iconic SUV.

Just like the popular petrol and diesel-powered versions of the G-Wagon that have been around for over 40 years, Mercedes says the electric EQG will also be a serious off-roader as it will be able to climb a 100% grade.
Mercedes didn’t give details about the electric vehicles drive range or its battery size, but the SUV will be tested on the 1,445-meter high Schockl mountain in Graz before it becomes a series production model.
