Man Utd remove Aeroflot signage from Old Trafford car park after ending £40m deal with Russian flagship airline.
The move follows Russian president Vladimir Putin decisions to invade its neighbour, the Ukraine.
British Govt. had earlier banned Russian Flagship Airline, Aeroflot from UK airspace.
Manchester United have painted over the Aeroflot logo at Old Trafford car park after ending a £40 million sponsorship deal with Russia’s national airline.
The move to remove the huge Aeroflot markings from the Old Trafford car park follows Russian president Vladimir Putin decisions to invade its neighbour, the Ukraine.
A United spokesperson said:
“In light of events in Ukraine, we have withdrawn Aeroflot’s sponsorship rights.”
“We share the concerns of our fans around the world and extend our sympathies to those affected.”
The Red Devils first signed the lucrative deal with the airline in 2013, before renewing the deal in 2017. In their nine year association with Aeroflot, Manchester United banked £100 million from the deal.
United chiefs are already looking for an alternative partner, with Qatar Airways mentioned as one possible candidate.
British government had earlier banned Russian Flagship Airline, Aeroflot from UK airspace, following Vladimir Putin’s assault on Ukraine.
