Mercedes-Maybach, S-Class And G-Class Sets New Record Sales In China In Q3 2023
Top-end Mercedes models including the Mercedes-Maybach, S-Class and G-Class sets new record sales in China in Q3 2023.
Sales of the G-Class, Mercedes-Maybach and S-Class up by 35%, 30% and +9% respectively between July and September.
G-Class starts at $140k while the Mercedes-Maybach starts at $184k – though both models cost more than two times in China.
In all markets, Mercedes-Benz Cars sales reached 510,600 units (-4%) in the third quarter and 1,529,800 from January to September.
Top-ends Mercedes-Benz models reached 69,900 units (-11%) in the Q3 and 246,500 units (+6%) from January to September.
Top-end Mercedes-Benz ultra-luxury models led by the G-Class SUV and the flagship Mercedes-Maybach sets a new record sales in China, the world’s biggest car market, during the third quarter (Q3) of 2023.
Despite seeing a sales drop in China in the third quarter, the iconic boxy Mercedes G-Class and the Mercedes-Maybach models set new records in Q3 with sales up by 35% and 30% respectively.
Additionally, the S-Class achieved a new all-time best in China with 9,400 units (+9%) sold in Q3. Further sales growth in China was limited by model changes of Mercedes-AMG and parts availability for GLC and entry-level vehicles.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class starts at $140,000 for the G550 model while the Mercedes-Maybach models cost between $184k and $230k – though both fast-selling models can cost more than two times in China due to heavy import levies.
In all markets, Mercedes-Benz Cars sales reached 510,600 units (-4%) in the third quarter and 1,529,800 from January to September, including 69,900 units (-11%) and 246,500 units (+6%) of top-end vehicles respectively.
During the Q3, sales of the G-Class was up by 11% while the Mercedes-Maybach sales were up by 26% to 6,600 units.
