Ahead of planned delivery, a video posted to X handle of Tesla Owners Club of Silicon Valley has shown a Cybertruck driving on the road with about 40 to 50 bullet holes in the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Replying to the post, CEO Elon Musk revealed that the Cybertruck had an “entire drum magazine of a Tommy gun” emptied into the driver door, adding that no bullets penetrated into the cabin during the test.
“We emptied the entire drum magazine of a Tommy gun into the driver door Al Capone style. No bullets penetrated into the passenger compartment.”
During the unveiling in November 2019, Musk said Cybertruck comes with armoured glass windows and an armored alloy body that will prevent smaller firearms like 9-millimeter handguns from piecing through.
But, during the demonstration of the vehicle’s armoured glass windows, the so-called unbreakable armoured glass on the Cybertruck, shattered after Tesla Head of Design threw a metal ball at it.
“Oh my fucking God, well, maybe that was a little too hard,” Must said when the front side windows shattered, and
“But it didn’t go through”, when the rear glass shattered.
He revealed that ahead of the unveiling :
“We threw wrenches, we threw everything, we even literally threw the kitchen sink at the glass and it didn’t break
“For some weird reason it broke now, I don’t know why.
“We’ll fix it in post.”
