Watch : Sony Used A PlayStation 5 Controller To Drive Its New Electric Car Onto The Stage At 2024 CES

Sony showed off the latest iteration of its Afeela EV at 2024 CES by driving it onto the stage with a PlayStation 5 controller.
Afeela is built by Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) Inc, a partnership between Japanese brands, Sony and Honda.
Vehicle on display at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a closer-to-production version of their first car.
SHM is expected start production of the all-electric Afeela sedan in 2025 for the 2026 model year.
Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) Inc, a partnership between Sony and Honda, has showcased a closer-to-production version of their first car, the Afeela prototype, at the ongoing 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
During Sony’s press conference on January 8, Izumi Kawanishi, President and COO of Sony Honda Mobility, showed off the latest version of the electric vehicle by driving it onto the stage with a PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.
Not that owners will be able to control their Afeela EVs with a PS5 controller in the future…
In his speech, Izumi Kawanishi said the company is partnering with Polyphony Digital studio — a Japanese video game developer and developer of the Gran Turismo racing simulator — to “bring together virtual and real-world experiences” to the cabin of the Afeela.
First unveiled at CES 2023, the revised Afeela on display at the CES 2024 now features traditional sideview mirrors instead of cameras and a 91 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, though SHM is yet to publish range figures.
Inside, the Afeela electric sedan features a yoke-style steering wheel, a screen that spans the entire dashboard, a larger center console with dual wireless charging pads.
Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) Inc is expected start production of the all-electric Afeela sedan in 2025 for the 2026 model year.
