Police Explains How Nigerian Motorists Can Report Their Stolen Vehicles On Its CMR Portal For Recovery
Police explains how Nigerian motorists can flag their stolen vehicles on its NPF Central Motor Registry (CMR).
The digitalized NPF Central Motor Registry (CMR) allows Nigerian motorists to report their stolen vehicles.
In addition, motorists can also input details of yet-to-be-recovered vehicles to serve for the possible recovery of the vehicle.
The Nigerian Police Force has explained how Nigerian motorists can flag their vehicles as stolen after completing the registration of their vehicles with the NPF digitalized Central Motor Registry (CMR).
In a statement, the NPF said :
“This is to inform motor vehicle owners who have obtained the NPF Motor Vehicle Information Certificate that in the event the vehicle is stolen, you can now flag it as STOLEN immediately after the incident occurred.”
“This will trigger an alert to instantly notify officers at the Operations and Traffic Divisions in all Police State Commands and Police Divisions nationwide of the theft and details of the vehicle for speedy recovery and arrest of culprits.”
“The vehicle owner will then proceed to the Police Division having jurisdiction over the location of the theft and report for detailed investigation and recovery. The status of the vehicle will remain STOLEN until it is recovered.”
How To Flag A Stolen Vehicles
Explaining “how to flag a stolen vehicle” on the portal, the NPF urged motorists to
1. Visit the CMRIS portal via https://cmris.npf.gov.ng and login to your profile.
2. Click on the arrow in your profile box to pull down the options
3. Select Requests
4. Click on Flag if Stolen button of the vehicle you want to flag as stolen. This is instantly broadcasted nationwide to alert Police formations to look out for recovery and arrest of culprits.
5. Proceed to the nearest Police Division/Station to report the theft for investigation, recovery and arrest of culprits.
In addition to making it possible to report vehicles stolen, the digitalized CMR also allows motorists to input details of yet-to-be-recovered vehicles for the possible recovery.
Motorists can visit https://cmris.npf.gov.ng for registration of vehicles, and https://reportcmr.npf.gov.ng for reporting stolen but yet-to-be recovered vehicles from January 1st 2018 till date.
