Nigeria Customs Acquires Cessna Caravan Aircraft To Bolster Air Patrol, Check Anti-smuggling Activities
In a bid to enhance its air patrol and surveillance efforts, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), headed by Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has acquired of a Cessna Grand Caravan EX-208B aircraft.
Registered with 5N-BAA, the newly acquired Cessna Grand Caravan will play a crucial role in air patrols aimed at detecting smuggling routes, deploying armed personnel, and providing swift support for ground operations.
Additionally, the Nigeria Customs said that the aircraft will serve as a strategic asset for Nigeria Customs Technical and Hangar Services Ltd, offering logistical support and revenue generation for the Service.
Lagos Red Line Rail To Commence Full Passenger Operations On 15th October 2024 – LAMATA
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced that full passenger operations on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line Rail would commence on Tuesday, 15th October 2024.
In a press release, LAMATA boss, Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, said that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will lead his executive council members on the passenger operations launch and ride with commuters on the first fee-paying passenger trip.
Governor Sanwo-Olu had earlier revealed that the Red Line is expected to run 20 daily trips between Oyingbo and Agbado and carry over half a million (500,000) passengers per day once full passenger operation commences.
Abuja Court Verdict Banning VIO From Impounding Cars/Imposing Fines Doesn’t Apply In Lagos, LASG Clarifies
The Lagos State Government has clarified that the recent Federal High Court judgement in Abuja, barring the Directorate of Vehicle Inspection Services (VIO) from impounding vehicles and imposing fines on motorists does not apply in Lagos.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said while no law empowers the VIO in Abuja to conduct inspections or issue fines, he noted that the Transport Sector Reform Law of Lagos State (TSRL-2018) grants the VIO in Lagos the power to do so.
On whether the VIO in Lagos State or that of other States would be affected by the decision, Osiyemi stated that “it is important to note and be informed that a Court has limits of its territorial jurisdiction, and in this case, the judgment is restricted to Abuja.
