Pope Francis’ Final Wish : Popemobile Is Being Converted Into A Mobile Clinic For Children Of Gaza
Pope Francis’ Final Wish : Popemobile is being turned into a mobile health clinic for the children of Gaza.
Repurposed popemobile is being outfitted with life-saving supplies and equipment for diagnosis, examination, and treatment.
Staffed by doctors and medics, Popemobile-turned mobile clinic will be able to reach children in the most isolated corners of Gaza.
This future “mobile clinic” is the Mitsubishi-based popemobile made for Pope Francis’s 2014 visit to the West Bank.

Pope Francis’ famous popemobile, the very vehicle from which the pontiff waved and was close to millions of faithful all around the world, is currently being transformed into a mobile health unit for the children of Gaza.
According to Vatican News, the mobile clinic was Pope Francis’ final wish for the children of Gaza to whom he had shown such solidarity throughout his pontificate, especially in the last years.
Handled by the Caritas Jerusalem, the repurposed popemobile is being outfitted with equipment for diagnosis, examination and treatment and with life-saving supplies such as vaccines, suture kits.

Once the conversion is completed, the Popemobile-turned mobile clinic will be staffed by doctors and medics, reaching children in the most isolated corners of Gaza once humanitarian access to the strip is restored.
In a press release, Peter Brune, Secretary General of Caritas Sweden, wrote that “with the vehicle, we will be able to reach children who today have no access to health care – children who are injured and malnourished”.
“This is a concrete, life-saving intervention at a time when the health system in Gaza has almost completely collapsed”, he added.

Anton Asfar, Secretary General of Caritas Jerusalem, said that :
“This vehicle represents the love, care and closeness shown by His Holiness for the most vulnerable, which he expressed throughout the crisis,”
Brune added that “it’s not just a vehicle… It’s a message that the world has not forgotten about the children in Gaza.”
But the Popemobile being transformed into a “mobile clinic” for wounded children in Gaza isn’t the electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class-based model delivered to Pope Francis last December.
This future “mobile clinic” is the Mitsubishi-based popemobile made for Pope Francis’s 2014 visit to the West Bank, which was donated by the Palestinian Authority.
