BMW Is Updating All Of Its Models With A New Logo
The BMW iX3 is a pioneer in many ways. The electric SUV is the first of the Neue Klasse, introducing a new design and a completely new interior concept, and is also the first BMW to feature the new brand logo. This new logo will soon appear on all BMWs.
Presented last year, it heralds a new chapter for BMW. It’s time for the Neue Class: a model family introducing a new design style, new technology, and a new interior concept. Various Neue Klasse elements will eventually trickle down to all BMWs, including models with combustion engines that are not officially part of the Neue Klasse family. All BMWs will thus receive the new corporate identity. And a new logo.
The BMW iX3 was the first, and certainly not the last, model to feature the new BMW logo. You have to look closely to see any differences from the previous logo, but they are definitely there. Fear not: the logo is, above all, recognizable as a BMW logo again. The blue remains, and so does the white. As does the black border containing the brand name. However, a lot of chrome is disappearing. The chrome ring that separated the blue and white elements from the black border is gone. The chrome that separated the white and blue sections has also been consigned to the trash.
Chrome isn’t just disappearing from the logo. The BMW iX3, for example, no longer has a chrome window frame. The material is also gone from the front of the car. “Light is the new chrome,” says BMW. The new BMW logo will be featured on the hoods of all new BMWs starting in February. You can also expect all new or updated BMWs to feature less (or even no) chrome.
