The CEO Of Range Rover Recently Shared His Thoughts On Temu Range Rovers Made In China
Jaguar Land Rover dismisses Chinese design clones as a compliment, confident that the Range Rover’s heritage and luxury status remain unmatched and unaffected by copycat competitors.
Chinese SUVs like the Jaecoo J5 and J7 are often dubbed “Temu Range Rovers,” but Range Rover MD Martin Limpert views these design imitations as a compliment to the brand’s inspirational status.
Regarding the prevalence of design imitations, Range Rover Managing Director Martin Limpert stated to Car Sales, “If other brands copy our designs, it serves as a signal that our aesthetic is viewed as inspirational within the luxury market. It is imperative that we remain the original, which is why we will continue to evolve. We consider this a badge of honor and take it as a compliment.”
Limpert emphasized that customers pay a premium for Range Rover’s uncompromising excellence. “We operate from strength,” he noted, citing five decades of British design and engineering that have made the brand a hallmark for global leaders.
Despite the rapid rise of Chinese automakers, they still lack the heritage and prestige of legacy brands. While budget-conscious buyers are increasingly drawn to Chinese value, the luxury market remains anchored by deep consumer loyalty. To maintain its edge, Range Rover is prioritizing product differentiation, starting with the upcoming launch of its new fifth model, a low-slung GT.
