Land Rover Discovery Sport Will Be Discontinued This Year

Published

on

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is on its last legs. The SUV was introduced in 2014 as the successor to the Freelander and has been on the market for 12 years. Everything comes to an end, and so does the career of the Disco Sport. A Land Rover spokesman told the English magazine Autocar that production of the Land Rover Discovery Sport will stop in December.

Whether and in what form the Discovery Sport will get a successor remains to be seen. Land Rover and Range Rover are not sitting still. Range Rover is launching electric versions of the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport later this year and is introducing a new model: the Range Rover GT. Land Rover, in turn, is introducing a smaller sibling to the Defender. That newcomer – which might well be called the Defender Sport – will not be long in coming.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is currently still available to order new. In Europe, the Discovery Sport has a starting price of around €65,414. For that money, you get a 269 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Discovery Sport is also available with mild-hybrid four-cylinder diesel engines producing 163 hp and 204 hp. For those, you pay a minimum of €91,534 and €94,679, respectively.
