A Fan Who Won Singer Shakira’s Lamborghini Urus Wants To Sell It Due To High Maintenance Expenses
A fan who won singer Shakira’s Lamborghini Urus wants to sell the luxury SUV due to high maintenance expenses.
He claimed that the $90,000 he received from the singer to register, insure and maintain the SUV isn’t enough.
The lucky winner said insurance costs over $2,000 a month and that he spends about $70 to fill up the tank every two days.
Shakira gifted herself the Lamborghini in 2022, soon after her split from her partner and ex-Barca star, Gerard Pique.
Michael Mejia, a fan who won Shakira’s purple Lamborghini Urus in a promotional giveaway late last year has opted to sell the high-end supercar, claiming that the $90,000 he received from the singer to register, insure and maintain it isn’t enough.
Mejia won the $200,000-plus Lamborghini truck in December 2024 after emerging as the lucky winner in a contest held to promote the singer’s new song called “Soltera.”

“Not only did she gift me a car, but she also gave me money to maintain it, $90,000!”, Mejia said on El Gordo y La Flaca, adding that “However, that $90,000 was only enough to cover very little.”

“So far, all the taxes for transferring the car, legal matters, and insurance for six months have been paid. And now, the federal taxes are due at the end of the year,” Mejia revealed on the Spanish-language program.
The unhappy man who had only owned the SUV for a few months said insurance costs over $2,000 a month and that he spends about $70 to fill up the tank of the 4.0-liter V8-powered Italian exotic SUV every two days.

According to local report, someone – likely Shakira fan – has already offered him between $700,000 and $800,000, which is more than enough to buy three new examples of the Lamborghini Urus.
48 year old Colombian star, Shakira, gifted herself the Lamborghini Urus in 2022, soon after her split from her 38 year old partner of 11 years, Gerard Pique, a Spanish former professional footballer and Ex-Barca star.
