A New Electric SUV Is Being Developed By Mazda For 2027

After an unsuccessful first attempt with the MX-30 model, Mazda is finally entering the world of electric vehicles more seriously. The company is developing a completely new electric car that could appear on the market in 2027, and a test prototype has already been recorded on the roads in California.

It is about a crossover the size of the popular CX-50 that will use a new platform developed within the company.

Mazda’s first foray into electrification was rather infamous. The MX-30 model literally recorded extremely low sales figures. In 2023, the Japanese offered a slightly larger battery, but even that did not convince potential buyers that it was a good choice. No wonder this model gave up to 160-170 km of range at best. Besides being more expensive than the competition, it also had an unusual rear door and a 143 hp electric motor.

After the failure of the MX-30, Mazda relied on Chinese partners for certain markets with the EZ-6 and EZ-60 models. However, global success requires a bolder design approach and a more convincing range, which will certainly be achieved with the new model.
