In comparison, the sum of ₦313.5 billion was collected from January-September, 2019.

It shows a significant increase difference of ₦54 billion, representing a 17% increase of collection from the previous year.

The Nigeria Customs Service Apapa Area Command prides itself as an export friendly Command. According to the command, the sum of ₦140,335,570,076.38 (~₦140 billion) was collected as customs duty and other charges in the third quarter of 2020 (i.e July-September).

In comparison, a total sum of (₦110,254,181,295.37 (~₦110b) was collected within the same period in 2019.

This sum clearly shows a progressive difference of ₦30,081,388,781.0; representing a 27% increase of collection from the previous year.

Furthermore, the command said from January-September, 2020, the sum of ₦367,682,616,309.23 (₦367 billion) was collected and remitted to the federation account.

In comparison, the sum of ₦313,518,235,978.06 was collected from January-September, 2019.

This figure shows a significant increase difference of ₦54,164,380,331.17; representing a 17% increase of collection from the previous year.





Apapa Command said the difference recorded was made possible as a result of resilience of officers in ensuring that importers and agents are made to do proper declarations, adhere strictly to import/export guidelines in tandem with extant laws.

In its fight against smuggling, the Command made a total seizure of One hundred and Eighty-seven (187) containers of pharmaceutical products and other general goods from July 1st to September.
