Aston Martin DBX707, the world’s most powerful luxury SUV, is the new Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1.

DBX707 joins Vantage on the grid, which returns as the Official FIA Safety Car of Formula 1 for the new Grand Prix season.

This year’s Formula 1 World Championship season kicks off on Sunday 5 March with the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

Aston Martin will return to this seasons Formula One racing not only with its AMR21 racing cars but also with two of its highly-modified Vantage and DBX707, with the duo taking the joint role of Safety Cars and Medical Cars respectively.

The British luxury marque will unleash the might of the Safety and Medical cars when the lights go out for the start of the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season in Bahrain on Sunday 5 March.

While the Vantage first arrived on the grid in 2021 as the official Safety Car, the high-performance DBX707 is making its debut this year as the new Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1, replacing the standard DBX.

The two Aston Martin cars are finished in the same ‘Aston Martin Racing Green’ as the AMR23 Formula 1 single-seater cars that Lance Stroll and two-time F1 World Champion, Fernando Alonso, will be driving this year.

The Vantage FIA Safety Car, set to be driven by the vastly-experienced Bernd Maylander, features an ultra-wide Vaned grille, a new front splitter and a 4.0l twin-turbo V8 engine, that takes it to 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, allowing it to lead a pack of 20 F1 cars at sufficient speed.

Fitted with FIA-approved racing seats, the DBX707 will be fully equipped with medical kits, including large medical bag, defibrillator and two fire extinguishers.

Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin Chief Technology Officer, said:

“DBX707 is the perfect vehicle for the critical role as an Official FIA Medical Car of Formula 1, providing the performance and punch required for the world’s greatest racing circuits, in addition to the flexibility and space required by the sport’s officials and medics.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Formula 1 and the FIA this season, with the pinnacle of motorsport a perfect environment for Aston Martin to showcase the capabilities of our ultra-luxury high-performance cars”.

Powering the DBX707 Medical Car is an uprated 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged engine used on the DBX, churning out 707 brake horsepower (equivalent to 697 horsepower).

This engines allows the British-made world’s most powerful luxury SUV go from zero to 62 mph in just 3.3 seconds (and 0-60 mph in 3.1 secs), before topping out at 193 mph.
