Audi Q9 Is Coming Soon, Set To Battle The GLS And X7
Audi may be working on a Q9, a large top-segment SUV with which it will logically attack the BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Although Audi already has one hell of an SUV on offer with the Q7 and a considerable horsepower booster with the SQ7, it can, of course, always be even crazier. Just look at the BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS. They have not yet received a direct response from Ingolstadt, but that may change. In conversation with the Australian CarSales, the local director of Audi hints that something will happen above the Q7 (and Q8) sometime in the next two years.
It is still unclear at this time exactly how Audi envisions the ‘Q9’. So the question remains whether it will be a fuel model at all or a fully electric SUV (called Q10, according to Audi’s new nomenclature). In the second case, the brand is, of course, not targeting the aforementioned X7 and GLS but, for example, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. Porsche also has a large electric SUV in the pipeline above the Macan, so perhaps it is a cousin of that. By the way, there is already an Audi SUV next to which the Q7 pales in size, namely the Audi Q6 available in China.
