Ayrton Senna’s F1 Car Engine Dismantled By Honda To Be Auctioned Off

The Japanese company is launching a new activity, which involves selling parts of some of its famous racing vehicles, signed merchandise, and rare artifacts, but also outright racing machines. Honda Racing Corporation’s new business will begin during Monterey Car Week in August this year, where engine parts from the Formula 1 car of legendary Brazilian F1 driver Ayrton Senna will be auctioned.

Motorsport has always been an important endeavour for many major automotive brands, and now Honda wants to give something back to fans by offering them the opportunity to own a piece of racing history. Senna won the driver’s title in 1990 driving a Honda-powered McLaren, and it is this RA100E F1 engine that has been dismantled and placed in special display cases.

Components including camshafts, covers, pistons and connecting rods will be auctioned off. Having a poster of Senna’s car on your wall is nice, but it can’t compare to owning part of the engine of the car in which he won his second title.

Honda plans to sell other items from its motorsport collection. It is currently selecting used IndyCar cars and plans to offer some of its classic motorcycles.
