BMW’s iX3 Just Needed Two Months To Reach 10,000 Sales In Europe
The new iX3 is gaining a lot of popularity thanks to its cutting-edge design and BMW’s most recent generation of powertrain. In fact, it got off to such a great start in Europe that it contributed to a general increase in sales in the luxury mid-size SUV market.
Six months after its launch, BMW started shipping the second-generation iX3 to Europe in March. By the end of April, BMW had sold 10,299 units, according to data from market research firm Dataforce that Autonews shared. That was sufficient to surpass the Polestar 4 and its 8,925 sales; the Polestar had an advantage because it was available for purchase during all four months, but the BMW only recorded sales in March and April.
The Audi Q6 e-tron, which sold 12,536 units in the first four months of the year, was nearly outsold by the new iX3. With momentum on its side, the Bimmer may soon overtake the Audi, which is down 23% from the same time last year.
Although sales data are not yet available, the electric Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology, the iX3’s closest competitor, also went on sale in March. Order books are full through the end of the year, according to Mercedes CEO Ola Känenius, and the GLC continues to top all premium midsize SUV sales with 41,227 units, which most likely includes both combustion and electric vehicles. With 28,389 sales from January to April, the combustion-engine BMW X3 trails it.

BMW announced earlier this year that it had secured over 50,000 orders for the iX3. It added a second shift at the Debrecen facility in February due to the high demand. In the upcoming months, deliveries will begin in the US and throughout Asia. Additionally, BMW notes that one in three iX3 purchasers are brand-new and have never owned a BMW.
