Borno Governor Zulum Distributes 610 Vehicles, Including Taxis, Tricycles And Buses To Youths - autojosh

Borno Governor Babagana Zulum distributes taxis, tricycles and buses to enhance urban mass transportation in Maiduguri.

The vehicles consisted of 100 Toyota taxis, 500 tricycles, popularly known as ‘Keke NAPEP’, and 10 Ashok Leyland buses.

In all, a total of 3,200 youths benefitted from the distribution of the tricycles, taxis and grants by the Borno State govt.





Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Thursday distributed 610 taxis, tricycles and buses to 3,200 unemployed youths at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri to enhance urban mass transportation in Maiduguri.

The 610 vehicles consisted of 100 Toyota LE sedan cars for city taxis, 500 tricycles, popularly known as ‘Keke NAPEP’, and 10 Ashok Leyland buses.





A statement by Governor’s spokesman, Isa Gusau, titled, “Mass transit : Zulum launches 610 taxis, tricycles, buses in Maiduguri”, revealed that the 10 buses will be managed by the Borno Express Transport Corporation for intracity services.

According to Gusau, the 500 tricycles were allocated to 2000 operators, meaning that each tricycle will be owned by a group of four unemployed persons.

“The 100 taxis were also allocated to 200 persons with each to be owned by two, making a total of 2,200, the number of persons who benefited from the tricycles and taxis.

Aside the 2,200 persons the tricycles and taxis were allocated to, the sum of N50m were also approved for 1000 members of different Keke NAPEP operators who did not benefit from the launch. The 1000 persons was to each receive N50,000 as social support.

In all, a total of 3,200 youths benefitted from the distribution of the tricycles, taxis and grant by the Borno State government.
