EFCC Arrests Fake Senator For Alleged €5.7m Internet Fraud, Seizes His Camry With Custom Plate

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a fake Senator, Ifechukwu Tom Makwe for alleged €5.7million (Five Million, Seven Hundred Thousand euros) internet fraud.

Makwe, who bears many aliases (Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, Dr. Bran), was arrested at the Guzape area of Abuja following credible intelligence about his internet- related fraud activities.





Upon arrest, it was discovered that the suspect defrauded a Spaniard of €5.7 million. A Toyota Camry LE sedan with a custom number plate “SEN 83A” was also recovered from the fake senator during the arrest in Abuja.

Eid El-Kabir : FG Suspends Construction Work On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Ahead of Eid-el Kabir celebration, the Federal Government has suspended road construction work being carried out by Julius Berger on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to allow easy movement along the route.

In a statement, Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Olukorede Kesha, said the suspension will be in effect between Tuesday, June 27 and Sunday, July 2. Work will resume on Monday, July 3, 2023.

She said:

“This is to allow travellers easy passage during the Eid holiday and minimise the discomfort during this very important period. Travellers are advised to cooperate with traffic management team deployed on the highway to manage traffic.”

FG Imposes N1,000 Annual Fee On Motorists For Proof Of Ownership Certificate





The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced an annual fee of N1,000 that will be paid by vehicle owners for Proof of Ownership Certificate (POC) verification.

Permanent Secretary, Lagos Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, made this known on Tuesday, June 27.

According to him :

“This certificate will serve as official documentation of a vehicle’s legal owners upon successful completion of the necessary requirements and procedures.

“The POC will contain vital information including the vehicle’s registration details, such as, license number plate, model, year of manufacture in addition to owner’s name and address.

Police Tracking An Abuja Customer Who Stole Mercedes GLB Worth N55m During Test-drive

The Nigerian police are tracking a suspect simply known as Henry who absconded with a car dealer’s 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 SUV during a test drive in the Abuja area of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the car dealer, Mohammed Manga, who reported that case to the Anti-Car Theft Unit of the command, the stolen car with a mileage of 19000 is grey in colour and worth N55 million.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Ameh, who confirmed the car theft said “The police are tracking the suspect (Henry).”
