Delta State Govt Deploys Number Plate Detection Device For Enhanced Traffic Management, Security
Delta State Government deploys number plate detection device for enhanced traffic management and security.
Developed by Soft Alliance, the VIS PlateDetect system is designed to track, monitor, and book traffic offenders.
VIS PlateDetect system also facilitates smoother traffic flow, efficient parking management and toll collection.
It uses advanced Optical Character Recognition to read vehicle number plates, converting them into9o alphanumeric data.
This data is then cross-referenced with the state’s VIS database to ensure real-time identification, compliance with state regulations.

The Delta State Government recently joined the Lagos State Government in embracing the VIS PlateDetect system, an innovative technology that uses Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera technology for enhanced traffic management and security.
During a presentation by the Delta State Government, the importance of adopting such advanced technologies to address urbanization and traffic challenges was highlighted, emphasizing the government’s commitment to creating a safer and more efficient transportation system for all residents.
While describing how the VIS PlateDetect system works, the Delta State Government said that the system, developed by Soft Alliance, uses advanced Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to read vehicle registration plates, converting them into alphanumeric data.
“This data is then cross-referenced with the state’s Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) database to ensure real-time identification and compliance with state regulations.”
“The VIS PlateDetect system offers significant benefits, including improved security, streamlined traffic management, and prevention of theft and criminal activities. It also facilitates smoother traffic flow, efficient parking management, and toll collection.”
