Reckless Drivers To Loose Licences As FRSC Activates Penalty Point System To Reduce Road Crashes
The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has ordered the activation of the Penalty Points System, a move designed to reduce road traffic crashes and promote safe driving practices.
A statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide disclosed that this penalty points system is a proven method of enforcing traffic laws, as it assigns points to drivers for various traffic offences.
Explaining the points further, the Corps Marshal of FRSC revealed that :
“Drivers who accumulate between 10-14 points will receive a warning notification signifying that the driver should desist henceforth from violating traffic regulations.
“When the driver goes ahead to accumulate between 15-20 points, his/her drivers licence will be suspended, signifying a temporary withdrawal of rights to drive in Nigeria.
“However, the drivers licence finally gets withdrawn when the driver accumulates 21 points, indicating that the driver’s right to drive on Nigerian roads is totally taken away or denied.

“Just as in its older siblings, safety, whether active or passive, has not been compromised in the 3008 produced with the needs of the Nigerian market and motoring environment in mind.”
Again, LASG Increases BRT Bus Fare By 18 Percent, Starting On Monday 17th February 2025
The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has announced that there will be an Eighteen (18%) percent increase in BRT bus fares, starting from Monday, 17th February 2025.
In a statement on its social media platforms, LAMATA cited the increase in the cost of operations and the need to keep the buses running as the reason for the increase in transportation fares.
The latest increase in bus fares comes nine (9) months after the Lagos State Government ended the 25 percent rebate and returned the fares on regulated public transport in Lagos State to normal rate on Monday June 3rd 2024.
Construction Of 68-km Lagos Green Line Rail To Commence This Year – Sanwo-Olu
The Lagos State Government has announced that the construction of the 68-kilometers Lagos Green Line project connecting Marina, Victoria Island, Lekki Free Trade Zone and Ajah, will commence this year.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, announced this on Friday during the commissioning of three newly built roads in Eti Osa Local Government Area.
The proposed 68-kilometers Lagos Green Line project is designed to run from the Lekki Free Zone to Marina. It is project is projected to carry 500,000 passengers per day at starting, and over a million as demand grows.
The Lagos Green Line promises to provide a more efficient and sustainable commuting option for Lagos residents. It will complement existing rail lines, including the Blue Line (Marina – Mile 2) and Red Line (Agbado – Oyingbo).
