Dragonfly-inspired Bugatti W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug’ Wears A Paint That Shifts Between Blue And Turquoise (Photos)

One-off Bugatti W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug’ is another Sur Mesure (“tailored”) masterpiece, finding its inspiration in the dragonfly.

Bugatti W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug’ is finished in a bespoke paint developed specifically for this new masterpiece.

Named ‘Dragonfly Blue’, the color shifts between blue and turquoise depending on the light and the angle of view.

‘Dragonfly Blue’ is also applied to the wheel rims to match as closely as possible to the body despite the different materials and paint systems involved.

Inside, it gets a leather color-matched to ‘Dragonfly Blue’ while graphic pattern is applied across the door panel face and the armrest area.

From final design sign-off to a finished Masterpiece, Bugatti said it took the teams months to bring the W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug’ to life.

Powered by the brand’s now discontinued 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16, which allows a limited top speed of 420 km/h (261 mph).

This Masterpiece is one of just 99 examples of this open-top Roadster that Bugatti plans to build, with each priced from around $5.8m before customizations.

W16 Mistral ‘Fly Bug’ joins three other bespoke commissions owned by the client : the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse ‘Hellbug’, the Chiron ‘Hellbee’ and the Divo ‘Lady Bug’.
