FBI Director faces backlash after swapping his fleet of American-made Chevrolet SUVs for armored BMW SUVs.
Before now, FBI directors have traditionally been driven in a American-made armored Chevrolet Suburban SUVs.
Sources told MS Now that Patel had requested for armored BMWs for his travel in order to be less “conspicuous.”
FBI spokesperson confirmed the purchase, saying the German-made BMWs were more cost-effective than other.

FBI Director Kash Patel is facing intense backlash after swapping his fleet of American-made Chevrolet Suburban SUVs for a factory-armored BMW X5 Protection VR6 SUVs that the agency bought at his request.
While FBI directors have traditionally been driven in a Chevrolet Suburban, four sources familiar with his transportation told MS Now that Patel had requested for BMWs for his travel in order to be less “conspicuous.”

FBI spokesperson Ben Williamson confirmed that the FBI purchased BMW X5s for the director’s use, saying the German-made BMWs were more cost-effective than other upgraded vehicles the agency could have purchased.
“Government agencies, including the FBI, routinely evaluate, replace and update vehicle fleets based on usage, security needs or budgetary decisions,” he said.


“The specific decisions referenced in this article were evaluated partly as a way to save taxpayers millions by picking cheaper selections or making cost structures more efficient.”
The U.S government has a contract with BMW for the armored luxury BMW SUVs, which are produced at the German automaker’s Spartanburg Plant in South Carolina, in the US. The State Department currently use armored BMWs to protect diplomats and other officials in high-risk environments around the world.
