Ford Reported Results That Were Better Than Anticipated.
Ford reported second-quarter results that beat expectations, with upbeat forecasts fueled by strong profit growth.
It comes as investors questioned whether management would be able to follow rival General Motors (GM) in raising full-year forecasts.
Ford reported second-quarter auto revenue of $44.89 billion, versus the Bloomberg consensus estimate of $44.72 billion, with adjusted EPS of $0.42 versus the consensus estimate of $0.36. Adjusted EBIT was $2.5 billion compared to an estimate of $2.15 billion, translating to an adjusted EBIT margin of 5.2%, up 0.9% year-over-year.
A strong quarter and second-half guidance allowed Ford to raise its guidance, with the automaker now forecasting full-year adjusted EBIT of $10 billion to $11 billion (from $8.5 billion to $10.5 billion) and adjusted free cash flow of $6.0 billion to $7.0 billion (from $5.0 billion to $6.0 billion).
Ford CFO Sherry House said pricing, an improved mix that includes more expensive SUVs, and net exposure to tariffs led to the increase in guidance.
