General Motors sold 2.7 million vehicles (+4%) in 2024 – its highest total since 2019, while sales were up 21% in the Q4.
All GM brands – Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and luxury brand Cadillac – also posted strong sales gains for 2024.
Chevrolet sales were up 1.5% to the highest level since 2019, with Equinox EV being the major driver.
Cadillac had its best full-year sales since 2016, spurred by strong demand for both Escalade SUV and LYRIQ.
GMC also had its best year ever in 2024, with total sales up 9 percent, aided by demands for Sierra and Canyon.
Buick sales improved 10%, to the highest total since 2021 – thanks to Envista, whose sales jumped 57% in Q4.
General Motors (GM) had a strong 2024 U.S. sales, with the brand handing over 2.7 million vehicles (4% YoY increase) between January and December – its highest total since 2019, while sales were up 21% in the Q4 compared to the year-earlier period.
GM said Electric vehicle sales jumped 50% last year and 125% for the quarter with 42,000 units (up 10,000 versus Q3 2024), adding that all its brands – Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac – posted strong sales gains.
“It was a great year for us across our product lines,” said Rory Harvey, GM executive VP and president of global markets. “How did we do it? By investing to have the best portfolio in the industry. We have something for everyone, no matter what they like to drive.”
Chevrolet sales were up 1.5% to the highest level since 2019, with Equinox EV being the major driver, while Cadillac had its best full-year sales since 2016, spurred by strong demand for both Escalade SUV and LYRIQ, now the best-selling electric mid-size luxury SUV.
GMC also had its best year ever in 2024, with total sales up 9%, aided by demands for Sierra and Canyon pickup trucks while Buick sales improved 10%, to the highest total since 2021 – thanks to Envista, whose sales jumped 57% in the fourth quarter.
“GM was the #2 seller of EVs in the U.S. across the second half of 2024. We were the leading seller of full-sized pickups for the fifth straight year – with the highest annual sales since 2007. And we were the top seller of full-size sport utility vehicles for an astonishing 50th straight year,” the company said in a statement.
