Consumer Reports US Published With Japanese Car Brand Takes The Lead In Reliability
The American organization Consumer Reports publishes research on the quality of vehicles and brands every year. Now is the time for new results.
Toyota took first place, Subaru was second, and Lexus was third. Honda and BMW rounded out the top five.
Consumer Reports based the study on data from a survey covering about 380,000 owners and vehicles, so everything has considerable credibility. If you’re wondering who had the best transformation, it’s Tesla. It jumped eight places compared to last year’s study to ninth place overall. That’s not to say that everything in Tesla’s world is suddenly flawless, as the Cybertruck is still below average, but it does suggest that the company is finally getting a better understanding of some of its finish and hardware issues.
The marque that experienced an unpleasant decline was Mazda, which dropped eight places to 14th place. The more complex CX-70 and CX-90, especially in the plug-in hybrid version, have slightly more problems. It’s a classic example of what happens when an automaker gets ambitious with new platforms, new powertrains and new technology all at once. Consumer Reports also states that hybrids remain a safe option for combustion engine enthusiasts looking for better economy. Electric vehicles and PHEVs continue to be over-represented among the least reliable models in the survey, especially when they are brand new or significantly redesigned, Carscoops reports.
